The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has placed on display today two of
the proposed rules that will implement sections of the food provisions of
the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of
2002.  Copies of the proposed regulations for the Registration of Food
Facilities (Section 305 of the Act) and Prior Notice of Imported Food
Shipments (Section 307 of the Act) can be obtained on the FDA Bioterrorism
Act web page http://www.fda.gov/oc/bioterrorism/bioact.html

Today, FDA held a satellite downlink public meeting to discuss these two
proposed regulations.  This meeting was intended to provide information on
the proposed rules to the public and to provide the public an opportunity to
ask questions or to provide comment.  Please see the FDA Bioterrorism Act
web page for more details on this meeting, rebroadcasts, and other pertinent
information.

Additional information associated with the two proposed regulations that are
on display today will continue to be posted on the Bioterrorism Act  web
